Bahasa Indonesia is ASEAN Official Language


Parliament Chairman Marzuki Indonesian Alie suggested as one of the official languages used in the meetings of the ASEAN countries. This was conveyed in the first plenary session of the General Assembly of the 31 ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in Hanoi, Vietnam, 21 September 2010.

"The use of Indonesian language will open up opportunities for others to become the working language in the AIPA:" clearly Marzuki as reported by the official site House of Representatives Wednesday, September 22, 2010. He also volunteered to be able to host Indonesia in the implementation of General Assembly The 34th AIPA in 2013 to come.

Proposals on the use of Indonesian in the sessions of AIPA has surfaced since the initial arrival of the Parliament delegation to Hanoi, Vietnam. On 20 September, the AIPA executive committee meeting, Indonesia has submitted its proposals to amend the statutes of Indonesian AIPA to enter employment in a language other than English AIPA.

General Session-AIPA 31 held 20 to 24 September 2010 in Hanoi, Vietnam, and attended by delegates from 10 countries members of the AIPA, eight observers, the Secretariat of ASEAN and AIPA Secretariat. Indonesia sent its delegation led by Chairman of the House of Representatives Marzuki Alie. (KD)

Members of the Indonesian delegation which attended the General Assembly to-AIPA 31 are: Marzuki Alie (Chairman of the Delegation), Priyo Budi Santoso (Vice-Chairman of the Delegation), and 13 others.
